My Chihuahua is eating large amounts of human hair and then throwing up?

What causes this? How can I make her stop? I'm afraid it will harm her stomach, because she throws up so often. We took her to the vet, and he said it was her dog food's fault??? So we changed her formula several times, but she still eats hair and throws up!

I've never actually heard of this happening. Where is she getting this hair from? Large amounts? I'm curious. Also, if the vet said it's the dog food, maybe you just havn't found the right one. I'm guessing this may be the lack of nutrients in her food. I would try a more expensive brand, like Innova. You can purchase it online, or check and see if it's in any of your local petstores. Also, wherever she'd getting the hair from, keep her away from that area. Possibly a bathroom?

well he should'nt be getting hair in the first place but

it has something to do w/ not getting enough nutrition.

ya, when my dog was a puppy he at rocks and then i took him to the vet and he said that he was not gettin' enough nutrition. the vet said to buy multi-vitamens at a store like walmart, so i did and i give him some every day and he's almost three and doen't eat rocks anymore.

Why would there be human hair where she can eat it?

Clean up the home and get her on a good quality dog food. You are asking for stomach problems leaving hair around for her to eat. It could end up with her needing a costly surgery if she gets a ball in her stomach she can;t throw up.
