Why doesn't human hair grow like other mammals'?

It seems like our hair does not have a limit as to it's length. Other mammals' hair grow to a specific length. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's just what I noticed. For example, ever seen a male lion with *really* long hair for a mane?

one reason may be that humans don't go running through the bush as other mammals to. onther reason is in the genes. Some mammals may have genes the control the growth of hair in some species.

But i like the thought of the first one. if we were having to run and catch our food or we had to sleep on the ground our hair may not be allowed to grow as long.

Animals shed their hair quite a but more than we do so it does not allow it to grow too long...
