when you first put on the silky staight human hair it's awsome... then when you wash it or wet it it becomes a tangled ratty mes!!! how do you ladies keep your extensions so pretty week after week and does it matter that i am using 18" human hair in color 613??? please help!!! thanks xoxoxox

It can depend on the quality of human hair that was used. There are a few different types, but one of the most common and cheapest of the human hair is "Brushed hair". What you describe is what this sounds like. "Brushed hair" sources have inverted cuticle layers. (The cuticle doesn't run in the same direction). It is then treated with harsh chemicals to dissolve the outer cuticle layer so that it appears to be softer and silkier. The hair is then treated with a silicone to make it feel soft and silky. It looks great for the first few shampoos, but then it starts to look as your describe. The silicone layer starts to shampoo off and you get down to the raw, chemically treated hair that has no cuticle. Then you have a BIG mess!

One of the best sources of hair and the highest quality I've found is Indian Temple hair. This stuff is gorgeous!!! Stays nice through months of wear. Although it is very expensive.

For now if you follow some of the advice already posted by the sisters who wear 'em, and I'd say to maybe supplement with some silicone products of your own. Gloss Drops, that sort of thing that have some silicone in them to make the hair soft and easy to get through and adds shine. Good luck!

Beacuse youhave to keep the human oily so you have yo put oil sheen on it because its human hair and will get ratty and nappy.

NEED TO WRAP YOUR HAIR UP EVERY NIGHT. TRY NOT TO GET IT WET, USE A OIL SPRAY IN THE MORNING.

I had human hair extensions and they stayed good for a very long time. The reason yours arent is mabey because you are not taking care of them right, or the person who did put them in didnt do a good job. When you wash them, you can only wash human hair, you want to do the regular things you would do with your hair. For example, shampooing, conditioning,blowdrying,etc. You also want to wrap your hair up at night so it will stay put and neat. Otherwise your hair will have you looking so crazy lol. You do not want that to happen girl. When you wake up, you need to brush it, comb it, put it in the desired style, you know. With human hair, and ONLY with human hair can you use heat on it. On fake hair the hair will get all matty and stuff, that will have you looking so crazy girl. Also dont weight your hair down with alot of hairspray and stuff. You might want to watch out how much you wash it too. You should wash the hair everyother week. There should be no reason why the hair gets ratty after a few days, if it does you dont know how to take proper care of it girl.

my guess is that it is not protected like growing hair is by the natural oils ur hair produces
